Paper 2: Rhetorical Landscape

Starting this paper was somewhat difficult to do. The reason for this was because I wasn’t really knowledgeable about any social movements. So when I wrote this paper, I would usually look up what the social movement was and why it started so I have an idea to write about what to write. After a bit of research and scouring throughout the internet, I decided to write a paper about an animal rights movement. For this paper I didn’t make a google doc to plan out my paper but instead I made sections in my paper to get the idea of what to write. Some of these would be “Example 1 (They want to live)”, “Rhetorical Triangle”, “Rhetorical Strategy” and “Effective Or Not Effective”.

After making these sections, I was then able to start writing about the topic I chose. This was somewhat more difficult than the first paper, the Tooth Fairy because I needed to find two pictures that I was able to analyze the rhetorical situation, rhetorical strategy and the rhetorical triangle (ethos, pathos and logos). Finding two pictures surprisingly took the longest as I couldn’t decide on which pictures to use. Unlike the first paper, there were no drafts and only one submission of this paper.

This paper showcases my learning throughout my semester because from this assignment, I was able to get a better understanding of how to compose texts that use strategies such as summary, critical analysis, interpretation and how to analyze different rhetorical situations.
